I am not a wedding photographer. So when a friend asked me earlier this year to photograph her wedding, I was a bit shocked. Sure I have done some wedding videographer and some second shooter stuff. But primary? You put way too much confidence in my capabilities.
That is not to say I wouldn’t do a good job. I have been told time and time again that I have skill behind a camera. Its just that I don’t really do weddings. Posed photography is not something I have done a lot of. I know some, but I just don’t have the experience. Undoubtable, my forte is in candid photography. Capturing a moment in time. This comes from experience as a documentary filmmaker, travel photographer, and missionary. As a friend of mine put it, I can capture people at their best. I can show people what I see.
So how well would I do at wedding photography? Your guess is as good as mine. I’m no Munir Sayegh. I just didn’t feeling like I was at the top of my game. These photos are taking a bit longer to edit that normal. Not because they are bad (they aren’t), but because I have to use a different workflow than what I am used to(aka I have to use something other than lightroom). Keep in mind that I am a perfectionist when it comes to my craft. But at the end of the day, I know Krista and Chandler will be pleased with the work I did. (These are just the photos I have posted).
